It was released on May 9 on news media such as KDKA, WPXI, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, and even Yahoo’s website that Alex Hribal, the boy who is being accused of stabbing 23 people at Franklin Regional High School on April 9, 2014, is being tried as an adult for these actions.
First, let me say that we are told to have Jesus in everything that we do. Clearly, there was no Jesus in this horrific crime.
There are two sides.
One is that he is getting what he deserves. I can understand that. He stabbed over 20 people and people want him locked up.
The other side is that he was bullied his whole life and that is what made him do this so he should not be held accountable. I can understand this as well.
As a bullying victim myself, though I have never wanted to stab or shoot someone as a result of bullying, which is what happens in most school massacres, I can understand the pain.
I understand the frustration, the anger.
I understand the feeling of wanting to take matters into your own hands.
I understand why people think that violence will get the message across.
Because sadly, it often does.
Here is what I can’t understand:
I cannot understand a school that has the nerve to say that they have zero tolerance for bullying, but turns their backs when someone is being bullied. That is pretty much telling the person bullied that they are worthless and that the administration is on the bully’s side.
I can also not understand people who still bully. We have stabbings like Franklin Regional, where thankfully no one was killed, but then there are massacres like Columbine, where 12 students and 1 teacher were killed, and 24 were injured.
Do people still bully out of boredom? Do they do it because they think that things like Columbine won’t happen here?
Well, think about this: Did anyone think that something like Franklin Regional could happen here?
This is why everyone needs Jesus.
And I don’t mean it in the, “y’all crazy, y’all need Jesus” way.
I’m completely serious.
I can’t help but think about how maybe these massacres wouldn’t happen if Jesus was allowed in schools. Isn’t it funny how you aren’t allowed to bring a Bible to school but it’s encouraged to be read in prisons.
This is what is wrong with our world today.
We do not have enough Jesus in our daily life.
Trust me. There is more than enough of Him to go around.
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”-Matthew 17:20
If we all had some Jesus in us, I believe the world could and would be a better place.
